Instructor:  Susan Barocas

From Rome and Istanbul to Tehran, Bombay, Tashkent and beyond, Jewish communities thrived for over two centuries along the Silk Road.  In this series of cooking classes, explore with your taste buds, diverse and delicious dishes from Silk Road Jewish communities in Europe, the Near East, India and China.  Each class combines cooking demonstrations with opportunities for hand-on cooking...and eating!  Students leave with recipes, a cooking bibliography and appreciation of the varied flavors of Jewish Food.

May 1 -     The Long Story of Noodles

May 8 -     A Sample of Savory Main Dishes

Susan Barocas is a writer, filmmaker and teacher who loves cooking with kids and adults.  Just as food and cooking help her explore her own Sephardic heritage, she finds that the kitchen connects so many people with their Jewish and family history, traditions and culture.
