An LGBTQ ballroom dance class makes it debut at the 16th Street J! Learn the steps, basic dance technique, patterns and dance routines of these elegant and popular ballroom dances: Waltz, Rumba and Foxtrot. Each class outlines the steps and lead-follow techniques necessary to have you moving with style and grace. Emphasis is placed on students' dance appearance, posture, ability to dance at various occasions, and their ability to dance with different partners. People from all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome. Couples and single dancers from any dance background or skill level are invited to join, to dance and to have fun.

Peter Pawlak is an experienced ballroom dancer with more than 14 years of professional dancing. Born in Warsaw, Poland, Peter brings the European style of ballroom dance to the Washington area. He started dancing at the age of seven and soon thereafter he found himself competing on dance floors across Europe. Peter won various European prizes for dance. He teaches ballroom dance in studios in the Washington metropolitan area.
