Get out on the Roan Plateau this summer!

We'd like to invite you to to spend some time on the Roan Plateau with us this summer and get to know this unique landscape. Read on to hear about our hike schedule for the coming months, as well as to view a recent BBC segment on gas drilling in Colorado and get information about a free screening of "A Land out of Time" tomorrow.

Roan Plateau Summer Hikes
This summer the Campaign to Save Roan Plateau will be leading hikes on the Roan Plateau.  We will keep the hikes to relatively small groups and we expect to fill them up, so please take a look at the schedule and reserve your spot today.  Send an email to brian@saveroanplateau.org to RSVP or for more details.

BBC program on gas drilling in western Colorado
BBC World News, with approximately 350 million viewers around the globe, featured a story about the impacts of the gas boom on life in Garfield County. The program highlights the threats to water, air and public health that gas drilling poses to nearby residents. The video also features a performance by local musicians of the song "Encana Bluegrass Blues."

Free screening of "A Land out of Time" Tomorrow!
For those of you who live on the Western Slope, there will be a free screening of the documentary "A Land out of Time" at 7pm on Tuesday, May 20th in at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. 

This excellent film chronicles the impacts of pervasive oil and gas drilling on public lands throughout the Rocky Mountain West, including Colorado's Roan Plateau.  The director, Mark Harvey, will also be there to answer questions after the film.  Please come out and bring along family and friends.  Thanks to Wilderness Workshop and the Roaring Fork Audubon Society for cosponsoring this event!
