Dear Friend,

We have just launched a new survey to help determine how effectively the government is managing its private contractor workforce.  If you are a federal government or contractor employee with experience in federal service contracts, we hope you will consider participating.  Responses will be held in strict confidence, and the results will be featured in a report to be released next year.  Please feel free to pass it along to anyone with federal service contract experience.

I also wanted to mention that our Whistleblower Film Series continues on Thursday October 15th at 6:30 P.M., this time in a new location: Room 2247 of the Rayburn House Office Building.  Many thanks to those that have attended previous screenings and helped make for great turnout and discussions!

This week we'll be showing Silkwood, a dramatic film based on the true story of Karen Silkwood (played by Meryl Streep).  As a rank-and-file worker at a plutonium factory, Silkwood was exposed to a lethal dose of radiation. She began gathering evidence of her employer's poor safety record, but died in a suspicious car accident on her way to meet a New York Times reporter.  You can read more about the film and find a link to the original trailer here.

After the film there will be a panel discussion with Howard Kohn, author of Who Killed Karen Silkwood?, and David Burnham, the New York Times reporter who Silkwood was going to meet on the evening she died.  I hope you can join us. Please spread the word to any friends in the D.C. area that might be interested.

That's all for now and hope to see you Thursday!

Danielle Brian
Executive Director
