Greetings,

Three years ago, the Department of Interior (DOI) leased public lands in Colorado and Utah to several oil and gas companies allowing them to research techniques for extracting oil shale. Now -- despite the fact that the existing sites have barely been used -- DOI is proposing to lease a new round of research and development sites for oil shale on public lands.

Please let the administration know that the six current leases are enough and there is no need to give away more public land at this time!!

Comments are due May 28, 2009.

And check out the Oil Shale Facts web site to get up-to-date on recent developments on the fate of oil shale in Colorado!
