Senators Must Act on Health Care

Thanks to you, we've had great hearings on our health care bills!!!

But our most important job in the next few weeks is convincing Senators to take up health care expansion THIS YEAR!!!  Send a quick letter to your Senator below.  It will only take 2 minutes and will help get us the health care we need!

Note, the House approved HB 754 with a vote of 102-37.  It includes a $1 tobacco tax AND health care for over 100,000 people!!!  Let's not leave Annapolis without getting significantly more people access to the health care they need!!!

Subject: Please support the Tobacco Tax for Health Care

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to ask for your support of the $1 tobacco tax for health care.

This is an important issue for you to take up this year. We cannot afford to wait -- my health care premiums keep rising. And if the uninsured go to the emergency room and cannot pay their bills, the costs get passed along to me and my family. Let's get people the care they need and reduce health care costs for us all. It would be terrible if the Senate cut health care to 100,000 Marylanders!!!

Please let me know how you intend to vote on this issue.

Background Information

We have a very small window of opportunity to pass major health care expansion.  This year could be an important step towards our Health Care for All! goal that we've been seeking together since 1999.  It all hinges on our Senators passing a full $1 tobacco tax increase to fund health care.

If they fail to pass the tobacco tax at $1, people won't get the coverage they need and YOUR health care premium will continue to skyrocket.
