Senators Must Act on Health Care

By now, you've likely received a call from us about the upcoming health care hearings in Annapolis.  On Friday, February 16th @ 1 PM, the House Health and Government Operations Committee will have its first hearing on health care expansion.  On Wednesday, February 21st @ 1 PM, the Senate Finance Committee will have its first hearing.   Then, on Thursday, February 22nd @ 1 PM, the House Ways and Means Committee will have a hearing.  So, where do you come in?  Please come to the hearings if you can.  Let's pack the hearings!!  If you fax us your written testimony by tomorrow at 3 PM, we will copy it and bring it to the hearing.

But our most important job in the next few weeks is convincing Senators to take up health care expansion THIS YEAR!!!  Send a quick letter to your Senator below.  It will only take 2 minutes and will help get us the health care we need!

Subject: Please support SB 207 - Tobacco Tax for Health Care

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to ask for your support of SB 207 - the $1 tobacco tax for health care.

This is an important issue for you to take up this year. We cannot afford to wait -- my health care premiums keep rising.

Please let me know how you intend to vote on this issue.

Background Information

We have a very small window of opportunity to pass major health care expansion.  This year could be an important step towards our Health Care for All! goal that we've been seeking together since 1999.  It all hinges on our Senators passing a full $1 tobacco tax increase to fund health care.

If they fail to pass the tobacco tax at $1, people won't get the coverage they need and YOUR health care premium will continue to skyrocket.
