We Need Action this Fall
With a possible special session this fall, it is critical the members of the Maryland State Senate hear from folks across the state about the great need for expansion of health care, using funds from an increase in the state tobacco tax by one dollar. This expansion, based on last years HB 754, which passed the Maryland House of Delegates would potentially cover up to 250,000 uninsured Marylanders.

Subject: Health Care Expansion
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing you to urge you to support important health care expansion either in special session if that presents itself, or in the upcoming 2008 Maryland General Assembly Session.
Last year the House of Delegates passed HB 754 by overwhelming margins. This bill that raised the State tobacco tax by $1 could have helped 250,000 uninsured Marylanders. It's a shame the Senate did not take action on this important legislation.
I respectfully ask that you take the lead on this issue and make sure health care expansion is a top priority in Annapolis once the General Assembly meets again.
Sincerely,
|
