story of hope: carlos
At this time of year, many children are looking forward to
returning to school. For children with emotional challenges,

went into an “anger trance” when things didn’t
go his way. When his troubles boiled over one day at school, his
Edgewood behavior coach finally found a way to reach him. read more...

volunteer spotlight: genentech
carnival delights kids
Volunteers
from Genentech amazed Edgewood children with wacky science
experiments, face painting, and games at the Edgewood Carnival
on July 24. Children made “slime” and explored color
in science. Edgewood’s large blacktop area was transformed
into a carnival site with face painting, basketball, a dunk
tank, and much more. The children enjoyed a day filled with
exploration, games, sno-cones, and old-fashioned fun. see

home away from home where they can “hang out” and
get the support and services they need to thrive as independent
adults. find out how you can help ...
advocacy letter from edgewood
ceo
On the heels of the passage of the California state budget
last month, a letter from Edgewood President and CEO Nancy Rubin
was published in the San Francisco Chronicle. Excerpt:
"Most Bay Area residents believe that every child deserves a
chance for a happy, productive future. We believe that we have a
responsibility as a community to care for children and that no
child should essentially be sentenced to a life of suffering,
homelessness or prison simply because he or she was born into
difficult circumstances." read the complete letter on

wish list: going home
luggage
Do you have extra luggage, suitcases, duffle bags,
backpacks or totes? When kids come to Edgewood, they often carry
their few belongings, if any, in trash bags. We'd love to give
them something to keep their things in when they travel or move
on to better horizons. Please view the Edgewood wish
list and let us know if you can donate these or
other items for our children. |
