Clean Energy in our Schools!

wind turbines in Lamar, COGrowing energy costs and tightening budgets have left schools in a tough spot – utility costs are second only to teacher salaries as the most expensive budget item for many school districts across the state.

But if schools could produce energy on-site by installing technologies like wind turbines and solar panels, schools could reduce their utility bills, create a buffer against future energy price spikes, and put more money toward educating our kids.

Unfortunately, many schools can't afford the up-front capital needed to finance renewable energy projects. HB 1312 would provide schools with low-interest loans to help eliminate this barrier, and allow schools to save money they could be putting back into the classroom.

Write a letter to your State Senator and ask them to vote YES on HB 1312 and help Colorado's schools become a part of building a vibrant New Energy Economy.

Subject: Please vote YES on HB 1312

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

HB 1312 will create a low-interest loan program to fund renewable energy and battery powered/hybrid electric bus projects in public schools that qualify. This is an important step towards building the New Energy Economy in Colorado, as well as helping support schools struggling with crushing utility bills.

Please vote YES on HB1312 and improve the health of Colorado's environment, education and economy!

Sincerely,
