We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Colorado Environmental Coalition.

The short explanation of this alert was:

In August the US Bureau of Reclamation released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the Windy Gap Firming Project. If approved, the project will increase water imports from the Colorado River for storage in a large new reservoir near Carter Lake. The project would supply water to northern Front Range cities. The time for providing public input is now!

The Bureau of Reclamation, based in large part on requests from people like you, extended the original comment deadline to December 29th, while we are all ready to embark on a busy holiday season it is extremely important to share your comments with the Bureau in the next several days!

Please take a moment to to submit a citizen's comment, asking the Bureau of Reclamation and the Army Corps of Engineers to ensure that the needs of the Colorado River are balanced with the needs for front range water supplies. We are asking the federal agencies to ensure that the participant cities are wisely and efficiently using all water, and that they avoid or mitigate impacts on the Colorado river.
