OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORTS CAREGIVERS' CALL FOR A FAIR UNION ELECTION

Healthcare workers at St. Joseph Health System are organizing a union in order to improve patient care and win a brighter future for caregivers and their families. Sadly, the company's managers are aggressively fighting the efforts of St. Joseph employees, who serve hundreds of thousands of patients at California's sixth largest health system. We are deeply troubled by reports from caregivers, federal officials and community observers that describe the company's record of threats, labor law violations, illegal firings and its use of professional anti-union consultants to fight employees' unionization efforts.

Caregivers, church leaders and civic officials have repeatedly asked the company's managers to agree to fair ground rules for a secret-ballot union election. Today, we repeat this reasonable and urgent request. St. Joseph employees should be able to decide for themselves whether to form a union. We urge St. Joseph Health System to follow the example of health systems like Catholic Healthcare West and Kaiser Permanente, which respect their employees' rights by agreeing to mutually acceptable and enforceable fair ground rules for union elections.

We're collecting thousands of signatures so we can show SJHS that the public supports frontline caregivers' efforts. Please add your support by signing the petition!
