The short explanation of this alert was:

In Washington, on Wall Street, and at kitchen tables across the country, it's finally starting to sink in: President Bush's War in Iraq has cost our country dearly, in blood and treasure.

The war and subsequent occupation have claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 U.S troops, and injured more than 28,000 others. But the tremendous losses and missed opportunities extend even further. We have already spent over half a trillion dollars in Iraq, at clip of $3,845 per second.   The Joint Economic Committee estimates the total bill for the War, through 2008, will cost the typical family of four a full $16,500.

Help draw attention to the massive financial impact of the occupation of Iraq by signing on as a citizen co-sponsor of my legislation that examines the economic costs of our current engagement and urges that we redeploy as quickly as is safely possible.
