During these difficult economic times, one of the most important things we can do to help stimulate California's economic recovery is create jobs.
When Californians went to the polls to support Proposition 1A, they passed a measure that would create the nation's first statewide network of high-speed trains — and generate 150,000 construction jobs and 400,000 permanent jobs.
Unfortunately, a few communities on the Bay Area's peninsula are attempting to delay the process in order to stop high-speed rail from going through their neighborhoods. While a judge has already denied the plaintiffs' claims once, they are now threatening to open up the case again.
I stand for getting California's economy back on track.
I stand with the millions of Californians who passed Proposition 1A, to build the nation's first network of high-speed trains.
I stand with the millions who want to reinvest in California, who want to grow our economy, create 150,000 construction jobs and 400,000 permanent jobs.
I stand for a 21st Century economy and for the future of California.
We stand to lose a critical segment of the high-speed rail line if attempts to delay the planning process are successful. This is a train we can't afford to miss.
