The short explanation of this alert was:
May 10, 2007:
OMB Watch Supports Citizen Communication to Lawmakers AND Transparency for Hired-Gun Grassroots Lobbying Firms. Join us!

Delay on the House lobbying and ethics reform measure continues this week as leadership considers competing proposals, including whether to include some form of grassroots lobbying disclosure. It is critical to contact your representatives now, as the bill may emerge next week. As constituents we must insist on strong, effective lobbying reform.

Don't be fooled by misinformation from opponents of disclosure. A bill sponsored by Reps. Martin Meehan (D-MA) and Christopher Shays (R-CT) H.R. 2093, does not discourage citizens from contacting their elected representatives in any way. Only for-hire firms paid more than $100,000 in a quarter to conduct grassroots campaigns on federal legislation would have to register or report.

Take Action Now! The public and lawmakers have a right to know who is behind big money lobbying campaigns that try to influence you to contact Congress!
