Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed drastic cuts to the In-Home Supportive Services program, which provides vital services to low-income seniors and disabled people in California.

The governor’s proposal would threaten the independence of thousands of IHSS consumers and jeopardize the wages and benefits of their hardworking caregivers.

Additionally, the proposal would end up costing more by forcing consumers into nursing homes, which are more expensive than in-home care.
