Help protect the Dolores River Basin

lunch with a viewThe Dolores River Basin area is comprised of six Colorado's Canyon Country Wilderness Proposal areas. These pristine parcels, which abound with outstanding opportunities for hikers and photographers, botanists and equestrians, bird watchers, archeologists, rock climbers, river runners and the like, are a natural resource legacy to Mesa County residents and visitors alike. This landscape also provides important habitat for a multitude of species including elk, mule deer, and black bear, bald eagles, and peregrine falcons.

This area, with its rugged history and remote untrammeled landscape, will no doubt continue to increase in popularity. As the various demands on this delicate area increase, it becomes ever more important to secure permanent protection.

Please write a letter to the Mesa County Commissioners today and let them know that you support long term protections, including Wilderness designation, for this landscape and the unique natural resource it lends the county.
