Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Oil Shale. The short explanation of this alert was: Three years ago, the Department of Interior (DOI) leased public lands in Colorado and Utah to several oil and gas companies allowing them to research techniques for extracting oil shale. Now -- despite the fact that the existing sites have barely been used -- DOI is proposing to lease a new round of research and development sites for oil shale on public lands. Please let the administration know that the six current leases are enough and there is no need for a giveaway of more public land to support development of dirty fossil fuels! Comments are due May 28, 2009. If you would like to view details on this alert, please visit here. |
