Tell EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson to grant California's waiver

Unfortunately, EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson recently put politics over science and, in the dead of the night as lawmakers were leaving town for the holiday recess, announced that he planned to stand in the way of our fight against global warming by denying California's common-sense waiver -- a decision that would affect nearly half of the country as we work to combat global warming.

Administrator Johnson overruled the unanimous recommendation of his technical and legal staff, even though California has been granted 50 similar waivers in the past -- and never denied.

Email EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson now -- and urge him to reverse his decision on California's common-sense waiver request so 150 million Americans can fight global warming!

Subject: Reverse your decision on California's waiver

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I urge you to reverse your decision to stand in the way of America's fight to stop global warming by denying California's waiver dealing with regulation of greenhouse gas emissions standards for vehicles.

The Clean Air Act gives states the right to set stricter vehicle emissions standards as long as they obtain a waiver from the EPA -- waivers which have been granted to California 50 times in the past and never denied.

But this isn't just about California: 16 other states representing nearly 150 million Americans have already adopted, or are in the process of adopting, California's new automobile emissions standards as well.

Your ill-advised waiver denial, overruling the unanimous recommendations of the EPA's legal and technical staffs, turns its back on science, turns its back on fairness, turns its back on states' rights, and turns it back on precedent.

I urge you to reverse your decision and grant California's waiver so that America can lead the fight against global warming.

Sincerely,
