We are in the final stages of planning the activities for the June 11 and 12, 2007 Samuel DeWitt Proctor Legislative Days. Our goal is to provide a forum for listening and sharing, and sending a clear message that African American pastors and congregations are concerned about national public policy and justice issues in America. Registration for Legislative Days is free!
We anticipate convening a nationally representative group and hope that many of you plan to attend. We are pleased with responses from elected officials who welcome our presence on Capitol Hill.
Please also note that we will host our second Addie Wyatt/Bill Lucy Justice Institute's Next Generation Leadership Development Training, June 10-13, 2007. The Addie Wyatt/Bill Lucy Justice Institute, established in 2005 for young adults 20-40 years of age, is designed to assist young leaders in building teams to share information and expertise to strategicaly strengthen their local churches, schools, and unions.
These committed young leaders will engage in training and dialogue and visit their congressional representatives. If you are interested in sponsoring and/or recommending a young person (ages 20-40 yrs.), please review the related information.
Our host hotel is the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. Please confirm with the hotel now so your room will be held at the group rate of $209. Hotel space in DC is in very high demand during this period. The last date for access to the group rate is May 14, 2007. Call 800.228.9290 or 202.328.2000 to make your room reservation or access this link http://cwp.marriott.com/wasdt/sdpclegislativeconf2007/.
You may make your travel arrangements based on the program draft found on the SDPC website homepage-www.sdpconference.info. Final details will be mailed and regularly updated on the website. We will do all we can to adhere to the schedule, to honor time constraints of attendees, our elected officials and speakers. Because of logistics and security issues, we must have a sense of those who will be attending. We need you to confirm your attendance as soon as possible. This will ensure you are appropriately listed for purposes of planning and scheduling activities on the Hill.
Please encourage those who want to have their voices heard to complete the RSVP registration and/or contact us soon so we will have an accurate count.
