Lutheran Coalition for Public Policy in Minnesota

Greetings,

How do we relate to this masterpiece called earth?  How can we honor God as Creator and care for God’s garden?  The Lutheran Coalition for Public Policy in Minnesota (LCPPM) and the Creation Care Task Force of the Northeastern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA invite you to join us for one of three evenings dedicated to caring for God’s Creation:

·      Monday, November 9th from 5:15pm to 8:30pm hosted by Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.

·      Monday, November 16th from 5:15pm to 8:30pm hosted by Messiah Lutheran in Mountain Iron

·      Tuesday, November 17th from 5:15pm to 8:30pm hosted by Our Savior’s in Cloquet

These workshops will include a simple soup supper beginning at 5:15pm, an inspiring keynote presentation and two breakout sessions designed to take you and/or your team to the next step – whether it’s refocusing your work in your congregation and community or taking your passion to another level and advocating for God’s earth on a local, state or even on a national level.   Learn what the ELCA is doing to advocate for just public policy in response to God’s call to Earthkeeping.

Click here to register and select which event you wish to attend.  Each participant will be asked to make a $10 donation for the meal, refreshments and materials at the event.  However, if you register as a congregational team, the suggested donation is $5 for each additional person to a maximum of $25 per team.   Registration is STRONGLY encouraged so that we can make enough soup and coffee!

Breakout session #1

Join your neighbors for a down-to-earth presentation designed to renew your relationship with God’s Creation and provide you with the tools and resources you need to tend your patch of the garden.   Learn how you can respond - with grace - and care for creation as part of our service to each other, to our congregation, to our community, and to God’s world.

Breakout session #2

If you’re part of an established Creation Care Team, this breakout session will re-energize and re-engage you and your team.  In July 2008, LCPPM spent an evening at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Duluth equipping you and your creation care team with the resources and knowledge you need to mobilize your congregation to care for God’s great earth.   We left you with a bumper crop of ideas and a great belief in your ability to green your corner of the world.  We’d like to hear what wonderful green things you have been doing in your congregation, in your homes and in your community.  What’s worked?  What hasn’t?   Bring your teams, your church calendars, your dreams and your passion and get ready to engage in the important work of caring for God’s creation!  Together we’ll work explore new resources and develop a step-by-step action plan customized for your congregation and community.
